Frequently Asked Questions

What is your session format?

At this time sessions are 100% virtual, and I hold sessions via a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom. Where you choose to have your sessions is up to you. I recommend a quiet and comfortable space that you can return to weekly.

What are the pros and cons of teletherapy?

Research, as well as my experience with clients in both in-person and online formats, shows that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. The connection between therapist and client - one of the most essential ingredients in effective therapy - remains strong in online sessions. For many, teletherapy removes obstacles like commuting or scheduling conflicts and makes expert care accessible when otherwise it might not be. A potential downside to teletherapy is technical disruptions, but with a reliable internet connection these tend to be infrequent and easily manageable. Please note that individuals grappling with severe conditions, such as severe psychosis or schizophrenia, are likely to be better served by in-person therapy.

What can I expect during a therapy session?

In our sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to talk about whatever is on your mind - whether it's something immediate that's troubling you or a long-standing concern. I will ask questions and make observations that encourage you to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply. This is a place for you to feel truly seen, and I’ll aim to support you in making sense of your inner world and creating meaningful change.

How can therapy help me?

People often come to therapy hoping to find relief from emotional pain. This pain might show up as depression, anxiety, or struggles in relationships or work. It can also look like feeling "stuck," experiencing emotional overwhelm or disconnection. In therapy, we can work together to uncover the root of what’s causing distress, help you break free from unhelpful patterns, and empower you to take control of your life.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, so I do not accept insurance directly. However, I am glad to provide you with a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network benefits, including the following questions:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network coverage for mental health? If so, what is my reimbursement rate?

  • Does my plan cover teletherapy?

  • What is my deductible?

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards and HSA cards.
